ISLAMABAD: The
government has given another month to the commission probing the Dawn leak scandal.
The Interior Ministry sources said that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has extended the inquiry commission tenure until January 10. Earlier, the commission was given a month which completed on December 10, but the body failed to finalise its report.
After wh
ich, Commission Chairman Amir Raza Khan sought more time.
Sources said that the inquiry commiss
ion had recorded statements of people concerned, including Dawn reporter Cyril Almeida who reported the in-c
amera session. The meeting was attended by Nawaz Sharif, former army chief General (r) Raheel Sharif and former ISI director general Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar.
The commission wanted to counter check all the documents and record on scientific basis because two intelligence agencies have provided documents and other evidence, sources said.
The military leadership had declared the story against national security and
demanded independent investigation and action against those responsible to “feed” the news.
